IOANNA EPAMINONDOU

ABOUT THE ARTIST
Ioanna holds a BA and MA in Fine Arts, Theory and Practise from the University College of the Creative Arts, Farnham, Surrey, UK. She has been teaching art and design for the past 16 years in public and private schools and studios. She thrives on colour palletes, rules over the finest of details, and constantly grows her painterly practise through her personal work and her teaching. Through her art practise she explores her immediate surroundings, appreciating the mundane/sublime of the spaces, landscapes and people that make up the everyday. Elements of contemporary cypriotness appear literally through her painterly style when gazing at natural, intact landscapes and seascapes that she deeply loves. When exploring urban landscapes, her attention to detail becomes even more exaggerated, adding layers that record her own understanding of movement and colour, contributing to and amplifying the artificial rather than deconstructing it. Her mediums of choice are oil and acrylic painting, printmaking and analogue photography – usually used separately, but more than often activated interchangeably and combined.
